Sometimes it's all about being in the right place, at the right time. And that was partially the case with our latest styled shoot. Back in March of this year, Lisa and I were at the new downtown event venue, The Caramel Room at Bissingers, with many of our industry counterparts at the two-day Wedding Market Expo.
During lunch, the lovely Amanda (Director of Marketing + Events) joined us and we started chatting about an upcoming photoshoot that The Caramel Room was planning! We went home that night and appeared for day two of the conference and with a full design proposal to share with Amanda and team. After working through all the details, we all came up with an exciting collaborative design!
So there we had it... the photoshoot would be on April fools day- hew perfect! Watching the weather everyday starting a week prior, we were concerned about rain as we would be creating an "intimate affair" set up out on their terrace. We went back and forth to the potential of the shoot being on Wednesday or Thursday that week. Finally, April fools day arrived and we loaded up all the floral and decor hard goods and headed to our workspace for the day!
What a day for a set up on the forth floor roof of a building right on the Mississippi River! We were fortunate enough to not have rain this early spring afternoon, but we did however tailor best practices in how to approach wind movements :) With all set and done, Katie + Kristin from Switzerfilm captured many incredible and special details (and moments) from our shoot.
We had quite the day of set up; rigging and draping all the panels on the perimeter of the terrace and extending out to create an artistically intimate setting without obstructing the view of the Bissinger's company sign and the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge. Not only was this a special day for an exciting new creative endeavor on the terrace, but it was also a night to celebrate Dani + Paul's wedding bliss! We love the personalized Bissinger's CHOCOLATE (wow!!) menus designed by Cheree Berry Paper. And a BIG Congratulations to the newlyweds!
But before we get into all the gorgeous photos, take a peak inside our (successful) attempt at placing tall forsythia branch arrangements on the center table all while standing up against 30+mph winds on the evening of our shoot. GIRL POWER!
